I purchased this for my sister and 3 month old nephew. This CD was especially important for me to get her because she works with refugees from other countries and knows many people of all ethnicities. My sister likes the songs (they're fairly adult friendly and yet mellow and unique) and my nephew likes them, too. I had purchased this CD quite a while ago for myself and wanted my sister to have a copy. So I figured, what better way to get something with songs from everywhere and that puts a baby to sleep, too. Also with the CD is a small little world map that shows the location of each country of every song's origin.
This lullaby CD is so relaxing and great for babies, children, and adults. I would highly recommend this to anyone. My daughter and I have listened to it every night at bedtime since she was born almost 11 months ago, and I still enjoy it very much. I just purchased another copy of the CD as a baby shower gift for my sister-in-law. My only complaint is that I don't particularly care for the vocals on track 5, so we usually skip over that one. The rest of the songs are lovely.
It's not just for children either. The hospital had this CD available and it was so soothing to her, we had to have it for her recovery. I initially became aware of this CD when my granddaughter was in the hospital following open heart surgery. The music is very soothing and unique. Since that time, I have purchased numerous CDs for everyone I know having a baby. It makes a great shower gift. I'm ordering 3 more today - my hair stylist is having a baby and I'm taking this to my next appointment and I'll have a couple more on hand. You won't be disappointed.
My little boys like to listen to music while they fall asleep at night. Traditional lullabies can be really sad and turn my kids off, but most of these songs are fairly upbeat. I had been looking for a lullaby collection that was quiet and gentle, but not sad. This is perfect. The kids really like this CD, and so do I. I especially love the Bobby McFerrin opening song, it is wonderful.
Even my husband likes to leave this CD on as we go to bed hours later - it's so soothing. Our daughter still sleeps in our room. She listens to this during her bedtime routine and falls asleep listening to it. Very mellow. Beautiful sounds.
